Aside from the obvious things like tea spoons, kettles and knives – here’s some of the things I can’t live without in the kitchen…
Cast Iron casserole dish
This gets used at least once a week. It’s great for soups, casseroles, mince – anything really. I’ve even used it for jam! It’s so versatile and can go on the hob and in the oven. It’s enamel coating makes it easy to clean and you can even stick it in the dishwasher. You could splash out on a Le Creuset one or something a little more affordable. Ours was bought in France about ten years ago and it’s still going strong.
Plastic mixing bowls
This is another one that I use every day. James bought me a set very similar to these about ten years ago and they really are the perfect mixing bowl – whether you’re baking bread or cakes, or just want to crack an egg. Seemingly expensive – they’re actually great value because they’re they only bowls you’ll ever need. And they last for years.
Nespresso Machine
We used to scoff about these machines. Then we tried one. It really does make fantastic coffee. No mess, no hassle. We have a really simple model, without any of the fancy milk heating things. I heat my milk separately for a lovely flat white every morning. It works out as 29p per capsule.
What are your kitchen essentials?
Ah this is a great idea for a post. My kitchen essentials without a doubt would be a kettle and a toaster! Used every day, and even with the toaster, sometimes more than once! X
