I’m so excited to see you live in Ely, I was just looking through your blog posts after discovering you via The Ordinary Lovely website, and I saw a picture and thought to myself “that looks just like Ely”! When my husband and I first got together we were living in very different places – he owned a house in Ely and I was renting a tiny studio in Central London. I used to spend a lot of time at his Ely house but we then rented it out before eventually selling it and compromised by buying a house in SE London, close enough for us both to get to work quickly but near enough to the countryside too to escape. Ely is so very pretty, off to follow you now on Instagram X

Hello! How nice to hear from someone else who knows Ely – I often find people don’t really know about it! It is a tiny bit too far to commute to London – I can see why you needed to move closer. Thanks for the Instagram follow, I’m just popping over to look at yours now x

I always get so excited when I read blogs that are pretty close to me, I’m in Norfolk and Ely is literally a train journey away from me. Such a beautiful city; me and a friend used to always walk the streets of Ely (many moons ago it feels now) and just pop home, was lovely to be out for the day!
You sound very similar to me in the fact of wanting to record the little things as a family. It’s a beautiful blog, I think I shall find myself being a regular reader especially as you love Pride and Prejudice!

Thank you so much Imogene – that’s so kind. You’re right, Ely is lovely and I should appreciate it more! We also try and get into Norfolk as much as we can as we love it – especially as it feels so different to Cambridgeshire. We like camping at Sandringham and I love the castles and places like Oxburgh Hall x

Hi Lizzie, beautiful blog and your pictures are stunning! Really enjoying the Instagram too.
I’ve been thinking of setting up a blog of my own but have found the differing advice and multitude of tips a bit daunting and confusing, you make it look so easy and pretty, would you have any advice for a complete beginner?
    Best wishes, Rhona

Hi Rhona! I’m so glad you like the blog. After my first year in blogging I wrote this post all about some of the things I’ve learnt so far: http://lizziewoodman.co.uk/musings/my-first-year-of-blogging-what-ive-learnt-so-far/ . My advice for a beginner would be to start off by registering a domain name and then us a simple free template from one of the big blog hosting companies to create your blog – I used WordPress, but there are lots of others out there. I found the designs offered by WordPress became limited after a while, so I then switched to using a custom-made site. However, if you want good design for a beginner I would suggest checking out Square Space. They offer really nice off the peg blog designs as part of your package. If I was starting out again I would probably choose them. Basically though, I would suggest starting off very simply – just get writing and worry about the design later. I hope this helps, but if you need any more specific advice do e-mail me. Good luck!
