So, it’s early May. A week ago I was shivering on a school trip to the seaside in arctic weather conditions. But then – suddenly – instant summer! In the past, I’d have probably complained that I wasn’t ready. But these days, I say bring it on. Let’s make the most of it.
Here’s what we decided to do when summer came early…
Walk around the streets of Cambridge without a coat. Buying new clothes for warm days and eating a lunch in cafe with all the windows thrown wide open…
Two solid days of gardening. We widened some flower beds to make space for lots of new plants and (James) dug out three tree stumps. Hot, hard work. Achey backs and muddy knees.
Let the children spend the entire weekend outside. Getting grubby, playing with the children next door… and luckily only one unfortunate encounter with the stinging nettles.
Sit in deckchairs and eat sausages from the barbecue…
…followed by toasted marshmallows…
Were you also blessed with a taste of summer last weekend? What did you do with it?

It gives you such a boost doesn’t it? It’s raining today, but after such glorious weather I don’t even mind – plus, it’ll do my new plants good! x

Those sausages look delicious! I loved swapping my fluffy dressing gown for a lightweight one, and wearing flip flops! Since having my son, most of my summer clothes don’t fit properly, but I love wearing the ones that do and realising that is fine! Embracing the new season in nature and in my own life 🙂

They were delicious Anna – I only wish we’d cooked more! Everything feels so much more relaxed when the sun shines. I had to give most of my clothes away after pregnancies – they just didn’t look right any more and I have to accept I’ll never have the same shape again! x

We’ve had the paddling pool out and my girls spent the weekend outside….There were tears when they had to come in for a bath and bed on Sunday evening…
Ohh Yum! Those toasted marshmallows x

Wasn’t the weekend amazing??!! But what’s happened? I think we were a little bit spoilt and now the real May weather has made an appearance.

Ha ha, yes – the weekend looks a bit grim doesn’t it. I’ve got a taste for the warmth now and I don’t want it to go away! x
