Discovering Molton Brown

I’ve always been aware of Molton Brown, but I didn’t really discover them until last week. I was invited to a bloggers’ evening at the Cambridge store, and as soon as I stepped through the door I was captivated. Summery cocktail in hand, I wandered round the store, trying all the wonderful products and chatting to store manager Sonny and his knowledgeable staff. Here are the products I loved most…

Rhubarb and Rose candle

If ever a scent could capture the essence of summer, then it’s this one. The rhubarb in this candle is sweet, yet sharp – and the rose adds both freshness and depth. I’ve put the candle next to my bed and like lighting it in the early evening after a hard day. This lively fragrance is also available in shower & bath gel, moisturisers and more.

Suede Orris Eau de Toilette

Did you know Molton Brown do fragrances? I didn’t until I visited the Cambridge store. Lorna, one of the Cambridge team, talked me through the range with great passion and helped me find my perfect scent: Suede Orris. This is really intriguing scent that’s quite powdery and musky – it feels vintage and sensuous, yet has a brightness at its heart that I loved. I will be investing in a bottle very soon! If you’re looking for something figgy, fresh and unisex then I also really liked the Geranium Nefertum. I’d definitely recommend going in to your local store to try lots of the fragrances out as they’re all very different. Every scent comes with matching body products, so you can layer up for beautiful and long-lasting scent.

The super-energising shower gel

The Coastal Cypress & Sea Fennel Bath & Shower Gel is like a fresh sea breeze in a bottle. A lovely scent to wake you up in your morning shower! You only need a tiny bit of these shower gels on a puff to make lots of lovely bubbles. And the best news? Molton Brown are hoping to launch an in-store refill service soon. In the meantime, the bottles they use are made from recycled plastic.

Relaxing bath vibes with Ylang-Ylang

Molton Brown gels can be used in the shower and the bath. I like this richly scented Ylang Ylang blend in the bath, where it makes plenty of luxurious bubbles. It’s the perfect way to unwind before bed. For extra indulgence, light the matching candle.
