There’s a steady flow of clothes catalogues landing on my doorstep. We’re still deep in winter and I’m a bit short on cash. But don’t think I’m not seduced by the idea of new things. Oh no.
The trick is to stick to a couple of items which can brighten up your winter wardrobe, without breaking the bank. Try a hint of something pretty and spring-like peeking out from under a woolly jumper – plus a good transitional basic piece which can keep on delivering once the weather improves.
For a good basic item, can I point you in the direction of a denim dress? They’re everywhere at the moment: tunics, pinafores, shirt dresses – you can take your pick. They’re perfect now with thick tights and jumpers, but are equally useful in warmer weather too. Here are my favourites:
To cheer up everything else in your winter wardrobe, how about a spring-like floral shirt? As the days get milder you can wear them on their own, but for now they can peep out cheerily from underneath your woolly jumpers.
