Anyone else fighting the tiredness this week? Whether it’s caused by the nights drawing in, or the looming threat of Lockdown 2.0, I can’t be the only one in need of some weekend cheer. Here’s a casual to-do list…
Watch Love Life
This romantic comedy series is an absolute joy. I binged the whole thing in one week. We follow Darby’s search for meaningful love through a series of complicated dance steps – backwards, forwards, round and round. Perfect escapism. Find it on the iPlayer here.
Listen to Kim Jung Mi’s NOW
This classic album from 1973 popped up on my Spotify suggestions this week. It’s hypnotic and very soothing.
Read something spooky
Darker evenings were made for grippingly creepy page turners. I’ve just started Elly Griffith’s The Stranger Diaries. Now is also a great time to try Barbara Erskine, who combines good-old-fashioned ghost stories with a healthy dose of bodice-ripping.
Coat of the week
I’m not ashamed to admit I have something of a coat obsession. Now the weather’s turned chilly, I’m digging my old favourites out of storage. My current favourite is this one by Monki. I bought it last year and, happily, they are still making it. It goes just as well with tracksuit bottoms as it does with a pretty dress. I’m wearing a medium.
Appreciate autumn
Thanks to a warm summer, the colours this autumn are supposed to be particularly beautiful. This weekend is the great time to get out for a walk and really make the most of it. I’ll be dusting off my National Trust card and checking our their guide to the best autumn walks.
Eat Crumble
After that autumn walk you need an crumble. Any crumble, although apple and blackberry is preferable. Find my favourite recipe here.
