This week has been all about ticking things off lists, with a little bit of musical excitement thrown in too…
On Monday both boys had their feet measured for new school shoes. Gabriel also needed new casual shoes, so it was an expensive outing! I was relieved, though, to be able to buy everything in our local shoe shop which is only a ten minute walk away. I was dreading the thought of a trip to Cambridge or Peterborough. We must have timed it just right as they still had plenty in stock. The new school uniforms have also arrived in a giant parcel from Next. It’s very strange having to buy double the amount of everything this year. But it’s done. Now there’s only the small matter of sewing the labels on everything!
Gabriel also had his back to school haircut…
Tuesday was piano day. Our new piano arrived from Cambridge and it only took them about half an hour to squeeze it through our narrow hall. Rather them than me! It’s in its new home in the playroom now and looks great, although the rest of the room is looking a bit odd. Too much furniture. I’m itching to sort things out in there – but that will have to wait for a few weeks.
Wednesday was another catching up day: e-mails, washing, ironing. The boys opened a village shop and post office in their playhouse. Much more fun!
One brilliant things about the new the piano was that whilst searching the loft for piano music we found this tea towel which has been missing for four years! I can’t wait to find a frame for it.
Other simple pleasures this week have been…
Eating ripe blueberries from the garden. Tom and I had them on our porridge. Bliss.
Listening to people tinker around on the piano. I’ve even had a little go myself – it sounded a lot better than my attempt to play the recorder last week!
As usual I will be linking up with Jocelyn at The Reading Residence. My word of week has to be piano!

Really envious of your blueberries. Last year, birds ate all ours the day before I planned to harvest them! Would love to go shopping in the village shop. Have a great week! XXXX

What a lovely piano!! Do you play? We had a piano in our house when I was growing up, it was lovely but sadly I rebelled against learning. Yummy blueberries! X

I don’t play yet, although James does. I’m hoping to learn!

Ah I saw on twitter that you were having a piano delivered in the rain and thought yikes! But it obviously survived and looks splendid in that spot. I wish I could play the piano, its a great regret that I didn’t learn as a child. Blueberries and porridge are my favourite combination too. Have a lovely weekend x

That piano looks beautiful, a lovely room, too. Must be nice to hear it each day. We’ve got the uniform all ready, but need haircuts, I think – I’m leaving that until the last week! Thanks for sharing with #WotW x

Sounds like a lovely week, Lizzie! I bet the blueberries were amazing.
Ah, school shoes – that’s my next job, and sewing in name tags!
Hope you have a lovely weekend! Xxx

What a nice week. There’s nothing better than a quiet week at home with a shrinking to-do list! Our uniform is arriving later today but I’ve really got to get those school shoes sorted!
