Fancy some weekend inspiration? Here’s my list of things to do, wear and eat…
Have an Aperol Spritz
This is my favourite summer drink. After we all drank it non-stop in 2018, it’s now supposedly unfashionable – but who cares about that? My love for it will never dim. Not tried it? It’s a refreshingly dry cocktail made of Prosecco, Aperol (which tastes a bit like Campari), soda water and lots of ice. It’s the perfect way to kick off your weekend!

Wear a hairband
Alice bands, which I haven’t worn since the 90s, are having a fashion moment this summer. They’re the perfect solution for humid summer days, or if (like me) you’re growing out a fringe (again). I’m giving top marks to this one by H&M. It looks like it’s a cleverly knotted scarf, but it’s much easier to wear as it’s just fabric stuck to a simple hairband.

Head to the beach
It’s supposed to be a real scorcher this weekend. Make the most of it by heading to your local beach for ice creams and a paddle in the sea. If you’re worried it’ll be super busy, try heading down in the late afternoon when everyone is started to pack up and go home. It’ll be a bit cooler then too. Just don’t forget to check the tide times…

Dress of the week
My favourite dress this week is this beautifully simple linen shift dress by John Lewis & Partners. I can imagine it looking laid-back at weekend in the garden or on the beach – but it’d look equally chic with a blazer for work. Love it.

Cookery book inspiration
I’ve discovered a really great new cookery book: The Green Roasting Tin by Rukmini Iyer. It’s full of vegetarian and vegan recipes that are entirely cooked in one roasting tin – saving time and washing up. The ingredients are easy to find and affordable, which is a must for me. I’ve made a couple of dishes from it so far and they were both delicious!
