I can’t believe how quickly this half-term week has flown by!
We’ve been away for a few days on the Isle of Man, more of which here. My word of the week has to be seaside. Or, if I’m allowed two words, seaside treasures.
There’s something so magical about searching the beach for shells, fossils and other treasures. I’m not really one for building sandcastles, so while the boys and their daddy get on with that, I like to wander round until something catches my eye. I love how different beaches can offer such diverse finds – whether it’s pretty pink shells and mermaid’s purses at Hunstanton, graptolites in north Pembrokeshire slate or beautiful Manx driftwood.
The beaches were visited last week offered me rich pickings and I filled every pocket. Here are some of my favourites…
How amazing is this little creature?
Is it a seahorse? Or perhaps a Roman treasure? I’ll let you decide for yourself…

Your finds are so pretty! Love the last one too. The shape is so quirky! Is it a dead coral or a drift wood? Like you I think half term just breezed through! Its Saturday now and we will go to school again on Monday! #wotw

Thanks Merlinda! It’s a piece of driftwood of some kind – I love how quirky it is! Luckily my boys have got Monday off too, which is a relief… x

Oh, so many pretty treasures! I know what you mean about collecting things from the beach, though as we’re in the Midlands we rarely get to go. Now I want to go and collect seashells, though! Thanks for sharing with #WotW x

Thanks! Luckily we’re only an hour and a bit from the Norfolk coast – I’m always surprised by how seldom we go there though. I think I’d like to live by the sea – it would be so different. x

Thanks Madeline! I’m going to try and find some lovely ways to display them – a deep box frame possibly x

Half term has gone so fast hasn’t it? Too fast! I love having my son home (most days) and what fabulous finds you found on the beach too 🙂
