Last weekend was my birthday weekend. My actual birthday was on Sunday, but we decided to have a day out on the Saturday as the weather looked better. Nobody wants a rainy birthday.
We drove over to Melford Hall, in Suffolk, and the sunshine lasted all day. Melford Hall is a beautiful Tudor manor house, sitting beside the pretty village of Long Melford – which is packed full of nice little shops and houses. This is the ideal combination for me!
It was a perfect day. So much so, it deserves a special post of its own, which I’m looking forward to sharing with you soon.
On Sunday, I woke up to a lovely pile of presents from James and the boys…
We had a low-key day, celebrating with champagne and a Colin the Caterpillar.
The working and school week has dragged a little, but here are some of the highlights…
In between the drizzle, we’ve been enjoying time in the garden. Playing a spot of croquet and sitting in our new deckchairs.
I have finally tackled the corner of shame in the kitchen. From this…
To this…
Slowly, but surely, the house is beginning to look a little tidier again. Our tidier garden is also making me very happy. My dahlias are settling in well and are flowering…
On Thursday we had a lovely visit from my sister, brother-in-law and baby niece. We had a really nice, relaxed day in the garden. It was great to see the boys getting to know their cousin better.
We’re all tired and definitely ready for the end of term. Three more days next week and then we’re done!
Hope you all have a great weekend!

Happy Birthday, and many congratulations on dealing with the corner of shame – I know how hard it is to tackle jobs like that, once they’ve built up. It looks magnificent now! XXXXX

But how long will it stay that way??!

Happy belated birthday! I hope you had a super special day. Your counter of shame made me snigger – I have a shelf of shame that I must tackle soon too 🙂

Ha, ha – I’m sorry to say the mess is creeping back in – I think every kitchen has to have its awful cluttered area, doesn’t it? I’m determined it won’t get quite as bad again though! x

Hi Lizzie, I’ve just found your blog through Boo&Maddie and wanted to say hello! Your blog is lovely. I’ve just started writing weekly round up posts (as in just this evening!) as I find them so interesting to read on other peoples pages. I look forward to reading more of your posts 🙂
