FANCY SOME WEEKEND INSPIRATION? HERE’S MY LIST OF THINGS TO DO, SEE, WEAR AND EAT…
Enjoy some seasonal asparagus
British asparagus is in the shops again! I refuse to eat imported asparagus, and relish enjoying it when it’s in season. There’s a lot grown near me in Norfolk, and I like to buy mine from the market or from road side stalls. My favourite way to enjoy it is on a slice of sourdough toast with a poached egg on top!
Make time for a magazine
In this crazy age of swiping and short attention spans, sitting down and reading an entire magazine feels like a rare luxury. I can’t imagine a world without their glossy inspiring pages. My favourite for lifestyle is Red, and for clever articles I love Vogue – and for general inspiration I adore The Simple Things.
Watch Back to Life
Anyone else got a Fleabag shaped hole in their life? This week I attempted to fill it with new BBC dark comedy, Back to Life. It’s about Miri Matteson, who returns home to live with her parents after 18 years behind bars. I liked it a lot more than I thought I would, and binge watched all six episodes. It was poignant, amusing and optimistic. I hope it returns for a second series.
Listen to Aldous Harding’s new album
I love Aldous Harding’s folksy, wistful and slightly baffling music. The Barrell is an absolutely beautiful song that got stuck in my head as soon as I heard it. I’ve listened her new album on Spotify a few times, and I’m going to invest in a copy on vinyl to enjoy it properly. I’m seeing her sing live next week and can’t wait!
Dress of the week
This week I want to once again sing the praises of my favourite Toast dress. I’ve been making a conscious effort to buy fewer clothes, and feel increasingly drawn to timeless styles that won’t date. This sturdy tunic dress is beautifully made and always makes me feel good, which are definitely the key ingredients for longevity.
