Spring is a great time to shake up your skincare and beauty routine. Changing temperatures, plus the difference in the light, mean it’s time to freshen things up. I’ve been trying some new products out that I can’t wait to share with you…
A fresh new toner
I’m a big fan of the cleanse/tone/moisturise routine. The thing I change most often is my toner – depending on my mood, my skin and the season. Right now, I’m craving a gentle product with a delicate scent. Pixi Beauty’s Rose Tonic fits the bill nicely. It’s light, fragrant and gentle, making it perfect for delicate skin that’s emerging from winter hibernation.
The under-eye saviours
That bright spring light is lovely, but unforgiving. I’m suddenly hyper aware of the dark shadows under my eyes, and I don’t even want to talk about the fine lines. In a bold move, I have invested in some new products from Bobbi Brown. First up is the Extra Eye Repair Cream, which I’m applying morning and evening. It’s thick and rich and you only use a tiny bit so it’ll last for ages. Next, I’m using a corrector under my eyes to even out the dark circles, followed by this creamy concealer kit. It’s worth trying to go to your nearest counter to be colour matched as it’s always tricky working out what shade you need just by looking online. This is pricey stuff, and if you were to just chose one, I’d go for the concealer kit and a cheaper eye cream.
Budget Buys
I read about these two products in Sally Hughes’ Guardian column on affordable beauty products and rushed out to buy then immediately. First is the ELF blusher and bronzer duo (in Fiji), which creates a lovely glow that’s every bit as nice as my more expensive powders. It’s an absolute bargain at £5. Next is the L’Oreal Paradise Mascara (£11). Sally promised it doesn’t smudge, and it doesn’t! I’m thrilled as I have a serious problem with panda eyes.
The all-rounder
In spring time I can’t live without my Bobbi Brown shimmer brick. Even if there’s not much time for make up, quickly whizzing this over my face makes all the difference. I like to wear it over the top of the ELF blusher and bronzer – the light reflecting particles are so flattering.
