When I was a child advent calendars were a simple affair. A paper one, or if you were really lucky, a basic chocolate one with those moulded plastic windows. I still remember the childhood joy of digging out that piece of cheap chocolate every morning in December. It always helped to pass the dark days of December before the Christmas holidays.
These days advent calendars are a much bigger deal, and they’re prettier and more exciting than ever. You may wonder why I’m talking about them in November? It’s because some of the nicer ones sell out very early. And they’re not just for children any more either.
