Autumn is upon us and the nights are drawing in. It’s time to pull up your drawbridge and turn your home into a soft, feathery nest. Comfort is key.
Feather the nest
There’s always room for one more cushion and throw in my life. The nicest I’ve seen so far are from Urban Outfitters. Here’s a selection of my favourites….
Fresh new candles
I’ve forgotten exactly what Hygge actually means, but it’s basically just lighting a candle, right? My favourites are by Hobo & Co and the Botanical Candle Company. I’m also a big fan of incense sticks. Lighting one in a tidy house feels like such a treat.
Pampas Grass
This retro favourite is having a moment. I bought mine from my local market, cut it to size and put in a big vase. Don’t add any water – let them dry out and they’ll last for ages. The soft, feathery fronds look so pretty.
A very chic Halloween
Forget spooky decorations, what you need this Halloween is a white pumpkin. Or even better, several. They look beautiful dotted about the house, or artfully arranged with some eucalyptus or other greenery. I’m also planning something nice for my front garden too. If you can’t find any white pumpkins, try painting some orange ones.
Houseplant SOS
Autumn is the perfect time to give your houseplants a little TLC. Re-pot tired plants and bring anything precious in from the garden before the frosts start. I’ll be taking cuttings from my geraniums to keep indoors all winter.
