If I was organised enough to have an autumn capsule wardrobe, these three outfits would be in it. They’re the clothes I’ll be reaching for this month – easy enough to wear everyday and flexible enough to cope with whatever crazy weather October throws at us!
An oversized mac & shiny boots
Come find me on any day this month and there’s a good chance I’ll be wearing navy chinos, boots, a wooly jumper and an oversized mac.
This look is such an autumn classic and reminds me of every 90s romantic comedy I’ve ever watched. Just add a romantic hero, some sparkly dialogue and a big pile of crunchy leaves…
The structured jersey midi skirt
This is what I wear when I need to make a good impression (and do my best impression of being an adult). I like this thick, weighty jersey skirt by Boden clothing. It hangs so well and has a satisfying swish.
Wear it with a simple knitted tee (I found mine in a charity shop) and a cute jacket or blazer. This skirt is a great investment as a great skirt never goes out of style.
The essential pair of black trousers
Every woman needs a pair of good black trousers in her wardrobe. I like these ones from Boden because they’re stretchy (great for cycling) and have a side zip (much more flattering on a round tummy). I hardly ever wear black, but I’ll make an exception here!
Try wearing your black trousers with a tan blazer and matching boots. It gives the whole outfit a nice autumn hue and stops it looking too severe.
What are you enjoying wearing this month?
