It can be tough to keep clothes feeling interesting and pretty as the weather gets colder and darker. Navy and grey are my staple colours. But they can look a little austere.
Try adding a hint of gold, it works so well on dark November days. Nothing drastic, I’m not donning sequins for the school runs (just yet). My day revolves around my children and I work from home. Which means my clothes tend to be pretty simple – there’s almost always some denim, a stripy tee and a woolly jumper involved.
To keep things interesting I’m embracing little hints of golden colour glittering beneath my warm grey coat – catching the light and generally cheering up those dark days.
For a gentle hint of glitter, wear a t shirt with a subtle metallic thread running through it. This glittery tee from Boden is perfect for me. It’s quite subtle, but feels really special close up. But not too brash.
Pair a delicate rose gold necklace with your winter coats. Even on the dullest days this one catches the light. It’s also great with woolly jumpers.
Here, I’m swapping my grey tights for a bit of bold red colour blocking, which I think sets off those hints of gold really well.
T-shirt, £26.50, Boden / Necklace, £59.99, c/o Browns Family Jewellers / Coatigan, £39.99, H&M / Denim skirt, past season, Boden / Brogues, £29, Whitestuff (currently in the sale!) / Tights, £4.99 H&M (unavailable online, but these are similar).
I’m also currently eyeing up both these skirts which I think would look amazing with a plain black tee and a grey coat.
Metallic thread knit skirt, £12.99, H&M / Jacquard print skirt, £35, Warehouse.
Browns Family Jewellers were kind enough to send me a necklace to try, but all words, ideas and photographs are my own.

Aaah I love this Lizzie!! I’m such a fan of coloured tights — I’ve got so many different colours and, to be honest, they’re the only thing (apart from Christmas) that I like about the colder months!!! 🙂 xx
