We had a lovely half-term holiday last week and I wish it could have been longer! Here’s a look back at some of the things we got up to…
On the sunniest day of the week we headed over to Hunstanton with the boys’ grandparents. I really like it there out of season – it’s not too busy and great for a bracing walk and some traditional seaside fun. It’s not exactly the most idyllic part of the Norfolk coast, but it doesn’t take long for us to get there so it’s ideal for a half day out. We had a paddle in the sea (wellies on, although there were a few brave locals with bare feet!) and a good hunt for some interesting shells.
After our walk we had a few chips by the sea front. Much to Tom’s relief, this time the gulls had found someone else to bully and left us alone! Despite the lovely sunshine, it was still very cold so we decided to warm up a bit in the trashy amusement arcade. Grandma had brought her 2p collection with her, so the boys were thrilled to get a good go on the sliding coin machines. We seemed to strike it lucky that day and came away with about ten little toys.
The rest of the week was spent just relaxing and relishing the freedom. I walk to school three times a day, every day, and it’s bliss not having to do it for a week. The boys are going through a lovely patch at the moment and are the best of friends. After the toddler years, I just can’t get over the novelty of them amusing themselves without me! That two-year age gap is finally paying dividends.
It’s been something of a struggle getting back to normal this week – we’re already counting down the weeks till Easter! I’ll leave you with some more photos from our week…
